The Supply Department Storekeepers that I served with were SKCS SanJuan, SKC Panganiban, SK2 Miller, SK3 Moore, Lt. Webb, SK1 Vargas, SK1 Radmore, SKSN Bell and there was another SK2 whose name is slipping my memory at the moment but I believe it was More but spelled differently than Jim Moore.

I also remember MM3 Wallace, DK2 Columbini, SH3 Goins, SH2 McCray, YN3 Doles, PN3 Klemz, YN2 Maddox, HT3 Sutton, MS2 Capples, MS3 Delk, BM3 Vanlandingham,  BM3 White, OS2 Bryant, GMG3 Harris, ST3 Dixon, HM3 Forret, HMCS Livengood, DC2 Langford, SM3 Doman, SM3 Zimmerman, EW3 Dineen, FC2 Musgrave, Turske

It is crazy sometimes how things work out, Doles and I went to boot camp, "A" school, and ended up on the Vreeland together.  SK and YN "A" Schools were at NTTC Meridian.

MM3 Wallace and I became really good friends when we were put into aft berthing during check in process.  I was listening to RUN-DMC, Dougie Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew, FatBoys, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.  Stuart asked what I was listening too and I just handed him my head phones.  He said what do you know about rap music? He then proceeded to ask where I was from and like most people I had met up to that point could not believe that I was from Iowa! I told him that I had no idea about corn or farm life that I was raised in one of the biggest cities in Iowa and grew up on the rough side of our town.  I was the FWB (Funky White Boy) on the Vreeland. I took Stu to his first rap show at Jacksonville Collisium in 1985 with Dougie Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew headlining and LL Cool J opening with many local crews getting some props.  Stu could not believe there was not a band.  Just turntables and mics. 

HM3 Forret was from 20 miles from my home town.  I just caught up with him this past week. He owns a business and I seen him on our local news cast and went to make sure it was him. We are going to get together for supper soon. Brad saved my life while we were in drydock. I fell down a hatch and spilt my head clean open. The roving security did not know what to do. He went and got some clean towels for me to try and stop the bleeding. I had knocked myself out. I came to after I do not know how long. They did not know which base to take me to.  Finally, Brad just happened to be coming back to the ship. He found out it was me and there was not a HM on duty that night. He got it together and had me out to NAS Jacksonville and a Airforce Officer and Brad stitched up my head. It was a massive cut with my skull almost broke about 1/4 inch more and it would have been.  It took about 30 internal and 72 accross the top.  The last thing that I remember prior to waking up was eating three hot dogs off the roach coach on the pier and climbing those excessive flights of dry dock stairs to cross the gang plank back to the ship.

HT3 Ron Sutton and I became friends after him picking up some supplies from the storeroom. We got to talking had some things in common and were road dogs.  He had a sweet Ford Escort GT, black, that was brand new.  I did not have a ride during my time in Jax.  We made many trips down to Daytona. I remember riding with Doles and Klemz up to Valdosta to try and pick up college chicks.  We also use to go to Jacksonville University and play pick up games trying to find college chicks.
