Hey Jerry, remember when us old buddies would call you Tweedy? I have a few stories to tell, so hopefully you'll swap e-mail address with me. I tried one e-mail address that was supposed to be yours, but it didn't go anywhere. I retired 2½ years ago from a newspaper after working 40 years there. I'll be vacationing in Seabrook, NH for four days starting on 23 June 2013. Maybe we could hook up? My e-mail address is: rs.js.ss@verizon.net

Jerry, I was stationed with you at NAVCOMSTAPHIL San Miguel and worked in Relay with you. My name is Frederick Smith, RM3, aka Smitty. You and I used to go to the nightclubs at the Crossroads. I remember you saying how you grew up near Altoona, PA. It appears that you're now living in South Portland, Maine. I just joined this website to make contact with you, as I had been searching websites for years trying to find you. I sent a letter by mail to your Preble St. address in South Portland. I enclosed a photo of myself and a few of the other sailors that we worked and partied with. I hope that the photo of me at age 21 in Olongapo helps you remember me. The letter that I sent has a list of all the names of our Navy buddies at San Miguel. I ended up doing two enlistments. After San Miguel I re-enlisted 9 months later and ended up on the USS Cambria (APA36) and later became (LPA36). I hope to make contact with you. I could tell by your photo on a couple of websites that I'm 100% certain that you're the Jerry Terwilliger RM1 that I knew. -Smitty-
Jerry, I can remember sailing out of Mayport, Fl onboard the USS SARATOGA (CVA60) while attached to Fighter Squadron Thirty-one homeported at Cecil Field NAS. We had enigines running in all aircraft while sitting on the catapults and pilots being rotated out of the aircraft every hour on the hour due to the heat on our way to Cuba. Can you verify if anyone else remembers?
Keep in touch because I believe in this and will work hard to get the veterans I know around Davenport, IA involved with the petition process. I will sign that petition when it gets started again.
Thanks Jerald,
Jeff Duex
Jerry did you get the 5000 signatures by Oct. 22? I went to the petition site but that petition was not open. Let me know if there will be another petition soon so I can get on board and sign that one.
Thanks,
Jeff Duex
Thanks Jerald,
Keep up the good work and I will support your efforts. I have already written both Senators and Congressman from the State of Iowa. I will keep up the effort also.

Jerald,
