  • Good to hear from you Jim.  I was the ass't supv., and router in broadcast.  I left the ship in July 67 at Cam Rahn Bay.  Two weeks later I was a civilian.  I have good memories of the ship and it's crew.  Take care, John

  • My first wife and I lived in Poway back in 70, while I was at Miramar. It was a house that was built by Sea Bees during  WWll. Talk about temporary housing?? The place was falling down around is. we had to move. Ended renting an apartment in Normal Heights,

  • Jim thanx.

Someone haked my e mail yesterday, and was unable to recover my account.

I found the problem when my contractor in San Diego called me as he had received the same e mail you did, all is well again and I am back up and running. I assure you I am not stranded in Spain. Not since 1969 anyway.

My wife is a retired Corspman, and belongs to the Navy Corpsman's Assoc. We are planning to attend the Reunion in Ouahu in 2013. We were at the San Diego Reunion in 2009. And thats when we decided to retire to SD. I was stationed there several times and lived there when my Dad was in.

Anyway we hope you and yours have a very merry Christmas, and New Year.

Any further updates on the Recruit?

  • Jim, I have had some not so good days lately.  Breathing problems, created by fluid in my abdoman and in and around my lungs.  I just take each day as God gives it to me.  I have hospice care coming in now...I am not aware I am going anytime soon!!  This just lets me stay at home and not have to do the trips over to Fargo anymore.  How are you and yours.  Hope you had no problems with the tsunami thing.  No snow in Maui...we had a blizzard last Friday!  I see you grew on "the island".  I was stationed at the Naval Science Department, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY (Nassau County), and live at Fort Totten, next to the Throgs Neck Bridge, in Bayside, Queens.  What a great duty station!!  I promise not to be so slow in answering you my friend.  God bless and keep you and yours.  Don
