Carol,
We all here( I have communicated with several about our loosing the Chief) are with you in our thoughts in this time! We know the Chief will remain here with us as well. Our prayers are with you, your son and the family. We are honored that you would fill in for him!
"Out of the winds' and the waves' riot,
Out of the loud foam,
He has put in to a great quiet
And a still home.
Here he may lie at ease and wonder
Why the old ship waits,
And hark for the surge and the strong thunder
Of the full Straits,
And look for the fishing fleet at morning,
Shadows like lost souls,
Slide through the fog where the seal's warning
Betrays the shoals,
And watch for the deep-sea liner climbing
Out of the bright West,
With a salmon-sky and her wake shining
Like a tern's breast, —
And never know he is done for ever
With the old sea's pride,
Borne from the fight and the full endeavour
On an ebb tide."
Thanks Chief! I'm a Mustang, selected to Chief Gunner's Mate in 1995, Commissioned CWO2 in 2000, and LTjg in 2003. An Ordie and member of the mess. Take care! I.Y.A.O.Y.A.S.!!

I really enjoy your site & the article's about the San Diego Recruit training Center & the
way it is now. The video about the AD Skyraider's were the first planes in my Squadron
and were known as AD5 Queen's. They were replaced by the Willey Fud's with the dome
on the top like a smaller version of the Awacs today. I was on the USS yorktown the same
cruise as Denny Witham & am his lifetime friend as well. He wrote the comment Dec
29th.
hi bill, I was looking at the command section and noticed that you didnt have anything about the USS YORKTOWN, she is a naval musuem in charleston sc. and some young vets need to visit her to see how much they missed out on, no ac ,
no tv ,no internet ,no female personel[maybe good thing, ha] .become a member of the YORKTOWN ASSOTATION. thought you might need this information.
looking for cds or any recordings of Blue Jacket Choir. I was a member in 1970. I do not care when the recording was made.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
