Thanks for the info and got the same info from Paul Covey. However, did you check out the web site I looked at? This Navy info shows several awards in 69 thru 70. This is what I'm curious about."
"hi Ken, I found the document from SecNav to USS Constellation and Attack Carrier Air Wing Fourteen: for meritorious service from 7 September 1969 to 30 April 1970 while engaged in combat operations in Southeast Asia and contingency operations in…"
"FYI.....The squadron, VA-85, was awarded the Battle E for the competitive period from July 1, 1975 to September 30, 1976. The award was presented to the squadron when RC Allen was the C.O.at the time."
"Hi Frank,
My name is Doug Foster, AO3 on the USS Constellation cruise with VA 85, 69 to 70. I joined VA 85 upon your return from world cruise. From the stories I heard I missed a great cruise and missed some great ports. I hope you are happy and…"
"Douglas I am just now reading your post of long ago about our awards 69/70. It is my understanding that the AE - Armed Expedition force award was for a week or so we were station off the coast of Korea. I worked the flight deck then and I remember…"
"Ken, Thanks for the info. I received something from SecNav in the form of copy of old memo which of course, I can't find right now. I was on board for the Korean expedition cause I got the medal. Remember hearing something about it but don't recall…"
"Great design. I'm going to put a request letter in the mail today for one of the coins. Is it $12.00 total? If not, what is the total amount for me to write on my check? By the way, I am still looking for VA 85 patches so if you know where I can buy…"
"Larry,
Sorry about the cancer. I hope you are well now. VASVW has new legislation written now looking for sponsor in congress. Check out the web site and it's free to join - always looking for more Blue Water Navy support. Does Rick have written…"

"Hope someone will know the answer to this question. I had need to visit sick bay on USS Constellation while in VA85 in 1969. I have a copy of my Personnel file and medical files but nothing showing visits to Conny doctors. Any ideas??
"We had the Battle E in the late 70's. Also allot of the records were lost in a fire. Mine was one of those. I've tried to get copies of my DD214 and was unable to. Just got a letter stating lost in fire."
I ran across this group while doing research for Agent Orange related problems. The group is trying to get Blue Water Navy folks back under coverage for presumptive exposure to Agent Orange. www.vasvw.org is trying to help us get treatment…"
Asking about vet status is also one way to determine how old you are. Age discrimination is alive and well in the US. These questions should be post hire. I have a little over 30 years exp in HR......."
Next time you look at "most any" job app you might notice the space for education where it asks what high school attended, when did you graduate then college attended and when did you graduate. Again, these are designed to determine how old…"
"Hi June,
Thanks for the info. There are several sailors who have gotten in touch with me who also literally saw the sailor, Brian Lightheart, give his life for his country. And I have heard from a couple of sailors who helped pull his remains out of…"
Hi Douglas, My name is Warren Jones, I live in Lake Havasu City. I was wondering if you know of any Navy groups or organizations that meet in Northern Arizona? I know of one in Phoenix , but that is to far for me. Thank You, Warren
Doug,
There is a plat video of a crewman getting sucked into A6 intake. I think you can find it on Youtube and they have shown it on TV lots. I was at Medium Attack Wing ONE when I saw the video, but I don't know how old the vid was.

Sorry, Doug. No I don't. I came pretty close to having that happen to me. On active duty, I was a missle technician. We had Regulus one missles. We had to surface and bring the missle on deck to fire. Regulus one was basically a ram jet plane with a thermo neuclear warhead. We were having a drill with a missle rev'd up on deck when I walked in front of it too close. Close call.

1. Be sure to upload an image of yourself. You can add your image on your Footlocker.
2. Click the Commands tab and search for your commands so that you can join them and add them to your page! This is how other shipmates will find you.
3. Invite all your shipmates!
4. Don't hesitate to add an event or a reunion to the Events tab!
5. We've also started Commands for each State. Be sure to join or add your own state!
I give out gifts often for those folks who participate on Navy Vets! Be sure to start up a blog post or two and tell us all about your time in the Navy!
Thanks,
Doug

Hi Doug
I'm the same boat, as we get older, any thing that connects us to our glory days really
does that. I hope you had good Christmas and a Happy new year, I can't wait for
the next reunion to meet some of our old shipmates and relive those glory days and
some great war stories
