Any Navy Veteran who served from 2-Sept.-1945 to 26-Dec-1991, prevented World War III for 46 years. We must never forget those who did pay the Ultimate price with their lives. USS Scorpion SSN-589, and many others. I Salute your Bravery.....

  • Hey Al,

I ran across this group while doing research for Agent Orange related problems. The group is trying to get Blue Water Navy folks back under coverage for presumptive exposure to Agent Orange. www.vasvw.org is trying to help us get treatment and compensation for presumptive exposure to AO. Just thought you might be interested for the group.
  • Hey Doug,
Thanks a bunch for that tip on the vet status. I thought the way that question was written was kind of bogus. Now it makes sense. I guess the best choice is "decline to identify" in most cases to avoid being profiled. But it's very humiliating to hide something that should be recognized and be proud of.
  • If there's one thing I've learned treating people its that you can learn a lot of history.. like Russians running to China 1935 and meeting marines to marry while Japs killed babies. Loved my job at Bethesa naval dental school.83-85 bldg 122 and when we took control of tower.
  • Or maybe 35 or both Hell I wasn't an airdale I just pulled there wisdom teeth.
  • Doug, 85 was with me on Nimitz 81-83.
  • Thanks Dave. It won't make me rich or famous but fun to play with and check out what ol'85 did in my younger days and gives me something to do.
  • Doug this site should help because your dd214 has u in squadron during that time along with muc citation. If not they can point you in direction to have 214 corrected.
  • David,

Next time you look at "most any" job app you might notice the space for education where it asks what high school attended, when did you graduate then college attended and when did you graduate. Again, these are designed to determine how old you are. I received my bachelors degree after vietnam-thanks GI Bill. A wise man told me that a college degree makes you educated, not intelligent or a born leader.

I'm doing research on VA 85 and see that VA 85 received a unit award, MUC, inclusive of 7 Sept 1969 to 30 April1970. Not on my DD214. Do you know where to research this further?
  • Thanks a lot Doug, I'm sure a lot of US would never have guessed this. But WOW!! I'm always amazed at corporate America. Veterans who go on to attain degrees are by most going to be great leaders.
