  • Ken, Thanks for the info. I received something from SecNav in the form of copy of old memo which of course, I can't find right now. I was on board for the Korean expedition cause I got the medal. Remember hearing something about it but don't recall any cold days. Or nights. I was Aviation Ordnance so I was on flight deck most of the time. Your memory is much better than mine. I am trying to get Blue Water Navy back under protection of Agent Orange Act of 1991. I believe we were all exposed to it from the air and from the water we drank, food prepared with and cold showers we took. That's my story and I'm sticking to it....

  • Ken, unfortunately, the only name that sounds familiar is Ray Franklin.  Also, unfortunately, neither his, or your, or any of the others' pictures, are in the 1968 America cruise book, so I can't put faces to the names.  Both at Oceana and on the America, I worked the night shift which made for even less contact with the rest of the Squadron's Avionics techs.

  • Welcome aboard!
