  • I was on the Lex... V-2 div...A/G..from march 74...to...dec 77.... yes i do remember using asbestos in V-2 div...especially with anything to do with pouring sockets.... oh yea and wearing asbestos gloves... my A/G eng caught the 360,000th or 365,000th trap.... i still have the picture of the captain...the pilot and me....would have to look to be for sure... also in contact with another V-2 A/G person who can verify this...I was  ABE-3 Wright... i was eng #2 A/G eng operator... and graduated to Hook runner.... trying to remember you....but i do remember when robert therian was on night watch...after ops... in cats... and for some reason and  the fresh water some how gone... he fell asleep on watch i think.... he went to captains mast for it..... i wanna say  we were on a corpus run.... but that was so long ago... my buddy has alot of pics from that era...God Bless You....Jerry
  • I remember being at my desk in the Operations Office. Just me an Lt. Smith at the time. Every seen an IBM typewriter fly, I have. It just sort of lifted up and headed toward the stern bulkhead at the speed of light. No time to grab it even though I was headed that way myself in my rollaround desk chair. Zoom, bang. Never mind the comments made at that moment in Navy language, "What the f*** was that!!!!!" Lt. Smith thought the ship was rolling over. That moment in a Navy tour is a keeper. No matter where you where on the ship, you DO remember that instant in time. I almost felt bad for you guys headed to Boston, if it hadn't been for the fact I had 2 more years shore duty at Milton Fl at VT3. Did 1 1/2 of them then back to sweet home Alabama!!!
