  • Doug,

Is there anyway we can post something that will appear on all Commands? I am not

sure if just posting on the Cold War Veterans is getting read by everyone. Since some of my

posts are not directly related to the Cold War.

  • Doug, I hope the group I created "enlisted mess" is within your guide lines. There just seemed to be a need for a general group(command) for everyone. If not, I understand. Thanks, Jim Decota

  •  Thanks to you too...I will get around to setting up my account in a few days...but glad to be aboard...Old Goats never die, they just get tougher...How bout Navy vs Army, hell of a game...

  • Thank you,Douglas, too, for your service and commitment to our country.
Its and honor to be aboard. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  • THANKS, SHIPMATE. I DON'T GET TOO MANY "THANK YOUs" FROM PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET. IT WAS A GREAT PLEASURE TO HAVE SERVED MY COUNTRY, FOR 22 YEARS.
  • Thanks for the welcome. Is there a way I can get the word out that I am looking for anyone, hopefully a V-2 Maintance Officer, that could verafy that we used asbestos cloth when pouring sockets in the arresting gear in1972 - 1975. I have asbestosis and need to prove to the VA that I was exposed to asbestos in the Navy. Thanks to anyone that could help.My email address is rhowell55@gmail.com
  • Thanks Douglas. I'm glad I found this site. I'm happy to be onboard.
  • Is there any possible way to place a post that would appear on all of the commands?
Or am I just not looking at things correctly, it seems to me that a post only shows up on whichever command you are at, and not everybody would be able to read it.

  • After googling "navy veteran sites" I found this one. There are only a few that are not a scam looking for money to let you find old friends! Then there are the "big scams" like Navyvets.org! Let's just hope the authorities find that scum bag! This site made the joining easy and free! But, why are there so few members? There is something missing! Actually there are a couple of things missing! I would like to see this site soar. Just a couple of suggestions: a link or a forum to contact the site's administrator (maybe "enlist" the assistance of some members to help with that), A simpler and less active home page (sorry, but sometimes simpler is better. the older one gets the more confusing things get!) and a page on which everyone can get together outside of Facebook (call it the "muster" page). There are, I am sure ways to get the word out and bring so many more of the millions of Navy veterans in here! The best source is the ones already here! Maybe it is time to bring back the "draft":!
I know there are many more like me out there that not only miss the experience and memories of the days they wore their dress blues! But, yearn to recapture and revisit those formative years. Most of us were teens when we signed up and were still young when we left! Oh, if we only knew then what we know now!
  • Doug,
I want to be clear that I was never actually IN Vietnam. I was on Guam during the conflict and that makes me a Vietnam era Vet. Most of what I did on Guam had to do with the war. But I never want to claim that I went through what the guys who actually went there did.
    Thanks,
    Wayne Devoll
