  • Midway Magic is alive and well in San Diego.  Have been aboard twice since she arrived.  Our reunion group started out as Midway and FDR but is now just Squadrons and Shipmates.  We want to bring aboard all the carriers, especially those whose members/numbers are getting smaller with age.  We are even running short of MIDWAY vets.  We have veterans from Plankowners to Decomm.  Join us.

  • Served in MIDWAY from Dec '78 to Dec 80 as MPA.  Best bunch of snipes I ever met.

  • Any carrier or squadron member should consider joining Squadrons & Shipmates (google it) for reunion activities. Great group of folks sharing experiences and camaraderie of Navy veteran service.

  • My 4-year Navy stint began Great Lakes (boot camp) in Nov. 72. Went to SK school, NTC-San Diego, Jan. 73. From there, went to NAS North Island, San Diego.  Joined Midway at Yokosuka, Japan in Nov. 73 shortly after she was homeported there. Served in S-1 Div. office, then Supply Support Center. Left Midway in Jan. 76 and went to USS Bryce Canyon, Pearl Harbor, HI. Left Navy as SK2 in Aug.76. Experiences were awesome.

  • I just framed a photo of CVA-41 and USS Newport News CA-148 on replenishment ops underway in the early 50's. My Dad (EOD) served on CVA-41 and I (HM3) served on CA-148.
