  • I remember seeing pictures of the Regulus in the launch mode aboard the Regulus. it was surfaced and sitting at a angle with a small wing. I was in USN 1962 to 1968...ON BOARD BOOMERS 1965-1968
  • Your welcome, Alvin.
The Halibut was an SSGN (before the ballistic missles).
We carried Regulus I missles. Basically a radar guided jet plane with a huge warhead. We had to surface and bring the Missile on deck in order to fire it. Total time on the surface was about 12 minutes. We patrolled the north Pacific off of the Kamchatka penninsula. We were permitted to wear the Ballistic Missile Patrols pin since we were doing the same kind of patrols before the Ballistic missile boats arrived at Pearl Harbor (mid 1960's). Glad to have you aboard. Enjoy.
