HI,BARLOW REMEMBER LOFTUS BANDITS
William, You have created the most uder friendly web I have seen yet. Thanks for the effort. I know it takes a lot of work and skill. We all appreciate what you have done to help us communicate with each other.
Hello William,
I was an airdale while in. My Dad was a carreer sailor, since enlisting in 1943, serving 26 years. He retired in 1968, passed away in 1980. His brother Buddy served in WWII also, but got out after the war. He however had 3 DD's sunk out from under him in the Solomons. in one day. My Dad's favorite Ship was the USS Kidd DD 661. As his son I am an honorary member of the Kidd. Named After Isaac C Kidd, who died on the Arizona. In 2006, I had the honor of being invited the the commisioning of the newest Name sake DDG 100, in Gavaleston TX. What a thrill and honor that was. I now get to communicate with the CMC Greene on a regular basis. DDG 100 is home ported in San Diego, now as My wife who is also retired Navy, are moving there in early 2012. where I hope to become a member of the USS Midway. staff.
By the way Thank You for your service, and I hope to meet with you in the future. Although I'm an old airdale; Tin Can Sailors have always been at the top of my Favorites List.
Knoiw what you mean about it being a small world. Very small indeed. Love the slideshow by the way.
Orange Park boarders NAS JAX. In fact I think it is actaully considered to be in Orange Park - don't quote me on that. I know that once I tried to get the number to the main gate I believe and directory assistance didn't have in in the Jacksonville listings and I asked her to try Orange Park and then she found it.
