  • south cumberland recreation center is near us. i looked at your profile looks like we enjoyed a lot of the same experiences in the navy. i went thru ejection seat and decompression in pensacola, what fun. carrier quals on roosevelt and saratooga ,flight crew on c131 and c1. i think we're going to jekyell island late june or early july.yea i too love that naval museum i flew with nap jones they had an article on him there.been looking for him also but no joy. i've got a 15 acre backyard bet we could find a spot to set up a camper any time your in the area.
  • hey john i'm up close to monteagle its about halfway between nashville and chattanooga. saw you in this web site first for 083 been trying to get ahold of ya ever since i have a copy of the rudder if ya need me to scan some photo holler i'm not to up on this computer stuff though. i was through yalls area on the way to pensacola last year. how did ya get back to me so quick i just joined.went to a reunion at cecil field for an old squadron a few years back. seems like everything i was part of is a museum or in scrap. good talking to ya. jerry
  • hi john, you asked me if the VA is going give you problems...you betchm red ryder. my DAV magazine last year think it was nov/dec issue...va administrators get bonuses for saving money.....guess where they save money from...you will have to prove it was service connected hearing loss/tinnitus, and not from old age which they love to say it is...it can be done...get a claim rating, that is for your ear problems... keep in contact...gil

    I am a native of the redneck Rivera.My brother has worked at whiting field since he got out.I know Josey and Gale and run into them often.
    I spent most my years of sea time in the "coonass navy" offshore oilfield boats.I am retired now,everything I have is paid for .I am making some motorcycle parts and powder coating.

  • Thank you John! Im glad I found this site! Brings back alot of memories! I am from just up th eroad from Newberry, Im from Laurens! Pretty much have lived here all of my life. First 2 years in, I spent at NAB Little Creek, Norfolk, with Beachmaster Unit 2, attached with the Stinger Detachment. From there I went to NATTC Millington, Memphis Tenn. Then went to NAS Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Florida, with VS-30. Made it to AD3 before l got out in Nov1990. Made ine Persian Gulf tour aboard the USS Fearless MSO442, out of Charleston, as part of COMMIDEASTFOR.

  • Thanks, I've enjoyed reading some of the blog comments. It's a nice way to share my feelings with those that have similar experiences and feelings! I am a Realtor in Gulf Breeze now and I run into a lot of people that have not spent time in the military and they don't share similar feelings based on experiences.
