After this presidential election, what's the Navy going to look like? Are we going to continue supporting the greatest Naval force in the world? Or, with growing fuel prices and negative attitudes towards our world conflicts, will the Navy take one across the bow?
Have either of the candidates spoken on supporting the Military?

I hear ya David, we've been on here to long and through to many debates on weather obama was worth a second look. In my opinion he's done nothing but go down hill, since it all started with the elections. Oh well if you go I guess I'll have to pack up too. I was rude and crude to her too, she just didn't know what kind off can of worms she opened up. It was fun though, I believe it's high time we lit a fire under all those obamanites. Tim, No, I don't have access to any of my uncle's things. I wish I did, but his children probably do if he had anything from his time in service. My family is spread out across the country and we lost track of each other. I do have much of my father's WWII European theater documents. Before he passed, he gave them to me to add to our family history. As to Senate 909 Hate Speech bill. Thanks for sending it along. I read thru it quickly, and noticed a few 'problem' sections. The bill hasn't been passed yet, and hopefully they'll either clearify or scratch out some of the parameters that constitue felonies, especially Section 10 (1). Have a good day.

It is ok to voice your opinion as we all have that right and it is healthy that both sides express their views. When expressing views, facts help the opinion. Accusing people of being in fear because of the lack of ability to accept change is gets in the realm of blaming and making excuses. People have fear for they care and Love this Nation that this guy [obama] comes into office with very questionable ideals. He comes in appoints people who are corrupt, tax evaders, and views that step in line with socialism. He will take and has taken your right to be an American. What really needed to be changed? I say what needs to be changed is Americans view on hand outs, Enforcement of current immigration laws, close our borders, get rid of people like obama, pelosi, reid, and the people who hijacked the Republican Party, and the list can go and on. His idea of change is to change your way of life with massive taxation, unwanted health care, amnesty to people who do not deserve to be here, his anti-military stance, take your right to bear arms.
Just today, the senate which includes McCain, stripped funding for the F-22 program. Just in Georgia alone over 20,000 jobs will be lost because of this. Sure, they claim that in the long run the F-35 project will help get these people back to work but where is the proof of this? These people need the jobs now not in the uncertain future.
How many of you will take this years flu shot? I mean they are trying to put fear into the public about the swine flu. Do you really want to trust the flu shot this year on something untested and coming from this administration? No thanks.

The JFK debate will continue for decades to come unless documents get released. As long as events continue to happen, conspiracies will always be around. Look at 9.11, it is full of conspiracy theories which come from people who cannot make sense of the radical ideals of the islam world.
Look at yesterdays (July 20) news. Whoopi is questioning the Moon landing because how the Flag was waving around when it was first hoisted up. Once again, an uneducated lib trying to make sense out of something they do not understand. Instead of celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon, she has to degrade a Proud moment in American History.
Governors taking off and having affairs fall on both sides of the aisle and it is just a shame.
Extreme Islam is a huge problem because it allows those who feel overwhelmed by modernity a way of striking back, to fall back to long past ideas to feel safe and make sense in their isolated lives. But the basic tenents of Islam, the normative Islam is something different. As with all the worlds religions, there are extremists at both ends of the spectrum. You might say the same for politics or any other ideology today. I have learned time and again that it is a waste of time to argue with those on both ends of the extreme, conspiracy believers and ideological extremists. No matter what you say, or what unbiased facts you place in front of them, they will continue to believe what they want to believe. Live is difficult enough for me without adding to it by fighting losing battles. I served my country honorably for six years, raised a son who now is on his second Iraqi deployment...all while being a Democrat and a moderate liberal. Nevertheless, I still managed to honor my superiors orders without question, and enjoyed every minute of my time in service. As far as Whoopi goes, she is ignorant of a couple of things...(1) how that moon flag was contructed and (2) even in a vacumn the laws of motion are constant..once set in motion, and object will continue in motion until otherwise acted upon.
The flag was contructed on a verticle pole and stretched out on a horizontal pole. Once set in motion it swings (waves) back n' forth until otherwise affected (Buzz Aldrin July 20, 2009 C-Span's Washingotn Journal).

Yep. All she and any doubters have to do is search the net for that answer. Speaking of Buzz Aldrin, I am hoping to meet him this Saturday at a book signing on the USS Hornet Museum for the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Festivities start this Thursday until Sunday.
