  • Nice pics. Did not see any of me this is ray I was on the Gompers from 77 to 80 with you Ski and applegate and I do believe Chief Callahan/.

  • Hey Jim when Harris was there her name was PM2 catherine Holdren.
Do you remember that Cathy and I remade the yoyo emblem? Also our pattern shop along with you molders remade the US navy plaque to look more 3D. Recieved a navy comendation for it. I have all the cruise books from that time also.
  • Last saw terry in san diego she got her chaki back and was waiting for the navy to make a decision on her case.
  • Hi Jim,
Wow, what a small world. One of the best friends I have in life is my buddy Keith Paradise, who incidently settled after his USN tours in Summerville, SC. Great guy, and between him and another molder ("TINY" ML3 Gary Deutsch from Odessa, TX) they were a "god-send" in helping me adjust to navy life when I reported on-baord the USS Sierra in '75. We had a ton of fun, poured a lot of various ferrous and non-ferrous alloys in sometimes very unconventional ways, and between the time in the USN and all the years since, have maintained pretty close friendships as friends both as individauls but also as couples, for we are all still married to the same ladies as when we served together. We still really enjoy ourselves whenever we get the chance to cross "paths".
  • Thanks Jim, this a great web site. It looks I am going to be able to connect with a lot of my old shipmates.
  • I knew a lot of those guys. I knew Callahan from the school when he was a chief. I met Applegate as an ML2 when he first reported aboard the Gompers. Same with Pete, McGuire was running the A-school when I was there and then he came on board the Gompers while I was there, too. I was friends with MLC Howard at SIMA. Was Randy SImpson still married to the girl he met in Japan? Seemed like a very nice girl when I met her. Some where I have a picture of Mathias and me that we took in Hong Kong.
When I was in the shop on the Gompers, we also had MLFN Ken Dilli, MLFN Art Cabrerra, ML1 Anderson, and another guy named Mike (can't remember his last name) and ML1 Juan Aguillon. I think there were 14 of us all counted.
