  • I am having a hard time trying to remember evryone in my class ,but I know that I have met Denbow while I was there . my class had a project before gradution it was a large gate valve which was to weigh about 200plus lbs so the man in charge of that weighing the pattern and sutracting the weight of the core etc we got the mold ready charged the furnance run the heat down tapped the furnance and poured it sure would have been a beautiful casting except we come up short of brz.abt. 50 or so lbs. damn what a kicker .
after I was discharged for the last time ,I went to work in a cast iron foundry in Amarillo, Tx.it had so many trip hazards I quit after two days ,only time I worked with metal after that , was for Vistawall arch products highrise curtain wall, one job took me just over two years to cut that was the PPG World HQ. in Pittsburg,PA. there were more but thats one I'll never forget, I cut 9 out of every ten mullions .other than
that my life has been very dull ,here in Shawnee,OK. there isn't much to do but set around like an old man and chase ghosts
  • Ok guys as for knowing a Doug Paxton , he must have went aboard the Bryce Canyon right after I left in late Feb. , as for Charlie Whiteside , I apparrently have the wrong one , Denbow has been nagging me all nighthe must have been one of the other cheifs stationed at DATC
Question - did any of you ever know Cheif ML Daniel-Danny-Miller .
what do any of you know about a Cheif Pike from what I've been told
he was sort of a legend
  • When he got out, he was head3ed for Washington or Oregon with his new wife.
  • I knew Denbow in 74 when I went to B-school in San Diego. He stayed there until he retired in about 78. He went to work for the civilians doing the same thing in the same place with different clothes and a bigger pay check.
I ran into Guitarez a couple times after A-school, but he didn't have anything to say.
Henry, you were on the Bryce Canyon in 70 & 71. Did you know a guy named Doug Paxton? He would have been just out of A-school and probably called himself Quigley.
  • Thanks Aldo it has been over thirty years I thought my memory had left me for sure

Posablly seeing about starting up a navy molders museum?

I know they dismissed our rate back in 1997. I would hope there are enough of us left to possably  get together and see about creating a museum somewhere  here in the states to preserve our long history and heritage that we all have shared as Molders. Any of you out there please give me a response if you read this Discussion.                                      Thanks.
