  • There are a number of you that have expressed an interest in making the reunion next September. I have just put out some VERY IMPORTANT info about the reunion, but don't have any way to contact you via e-mail or phone. I can be contacted at 806-787-1445  or  rmoore0418@hotmail.com.

You can also contact Al Lieberman via this website.

  • Hi guys and gals I was with VA85 Feb 1959 thru Feb 1961. Went to Cuba and the Med. great memories with a grreat bunch of guys (at that time there were no gals in the squadron) Thanks for the email and please keep me in the loop. I would be interested in a reunion to see if any of my old ship mates are still alive.
  • Hey to all the old buckeyes havent been on in a while busy summer how it flys by hope we can get toghether for a reunion someday.Take care and don't forget to vote nov.2 your country needs your vote
  • Hey Guys:
I'm up for a reunion any time. If we do it off season in September, we may be able to rent a beach house or two for a reasonable rate. Be cheaper than hotel rooms and easier to keep the party going.
    Mac
  • can't spell - involved
  • I think Tom George (Plane Captain on the America & Connie Cruises still lives in Cleveland. Cdr. Westbrock was living in Orlando, Fla. I talked to him on the phone several years ago. The officers and a few enlisted belong to the Intruder assoc. Mike Munson was very envolved with that. He lives in Weatherford, Tx.
  • I think She looks like a tired old warrior who's done it's job.RIP USS FORRESTAL.
  • I can remember reading that it cost a fortune to sink the USS America and the USS Oriskany. But I agree, there's nothing that can be done at this point. It's too bad that we can't at least save the island for display. Put it next to the battleship USS New Jersey, just down the river. I'm sure it would draw a crowd to see it.
  • Sadly...I agree
  • I think its the $7-8 million to get it started and the $2-3 million to keep it up that was its undoing. That's an awful lot of $ to raise and keep raising on an annual basis. Now with the tough times in the economy etc........... Navsea said it cost close to a million a year to keep paint on it above the waterline. Would sure like to see it saved but I think the move to Philly makes it a certainty that its a reef or a scrap deal.
