Thank you for approving my registration. It has been quite a while since I last visited and had a surprise trying to login the other day. As an FYI.....I originally signed up with this organization on Mar 5, 2009. At that time the signon was a userid and password. My userid was bigkano. Haven't used the site for awhile and when I tried I was no longer a member and had to signup again. On the old site I had a picture, profile, etc. I think originally it was just for Yokosuka sailors and then expanded to what it is now. I was always interested in finding some of my buddies during my time on the Landing Ship Squadron Nine Commander's Staff. My time in Yokosuka was August 1968 to July 1969.
Thank you!
Good website and well done. I was active duty from 1963 - 1967. I was an AO3 with attack squadron VA-106. We flew A4-C&E models. My squadron was aboard USS Forrestal in summer of July 29, 1967 when the fire that killed 139 sailors happened. I received a 2 week early discharge from active duty. In the fire 8 of my squadron mates died. I learned about the fire after I was a civilian again. We VA-106 Gladiators do have a reunion group. I will advise the leaders of our reunion group to link up with you.
Nice to here from you. I spent fourteen years in Groton on and off, three different boats. Finally retired off Narwhal here in Charleston in 92.
Thank you for bringing that to my attention, I have fixed it, should have been 1979.
Hi I was at BESS in 87 and did my QM"C" school there also,my big highlight while there,Making sure people paid for the coffee and donuts outside the tactical trainer while I was TAD,ok I did check Ids too
