  • Fritz,

last saw Larry at Camp Lejeune in summer of 65.

He was supply chief for 2nd Medical Battalion and winding down.

Me; in reserves with 14th Marines artillery as senior corpsman{only 3 corpsman for 875 Marines;not many Docs wanting field work and recruiting never worked out}.

Larry ran into me @Division Surgeons office. Great seeing him again.

Took good care of me with all sorts of goodies that our budget did not cover including a jeep ambulance.

Lost his address and when I found his phone number the corpsman who answered never heard of him.

Like so many other servicemen I know the gulf widened and all of a sudden its 2012.

Wayne Roberts I thought was your fellow HM3 who was a wee bit on the religous side.

The Gultch was the HMC who had been buddies with my Chief Phil Mullins. Both had been in Korea and Phil had stolen the Gultch's girl and married her.

Corpsman community in those days before Vietnam was a close knit group of lifers whose paths crossed often.

I think your chiefs name was McGlintchy/McClintock or something along those lines.

Had  a mug from the Yancey that lasted almost 20 years. It broke and oftened wonder if that was the day she was sunk.

Fitting that she go down off the Carolina Capes as she was a work horse for USMC.

She could find her way blind folded to Morehead City.

    Keep in touch.

    Jimmy
