Hey Doug ..
I rode the BunkerHill as a FTG Observer in '85 .. she didn't look like her command photo .. I blieve you have an "Arleigh Burke" in it's place ..
Here's the Benny Hill .. Shipmate!
Ashes sent up here will be Honorably handled. Don't need to do that unless you really want to. Where would you like them placed?
Doug, my heart is with you and your family. Your DAD was a CHIEF and as a retired CHEIF I feel he was a great man.
You were lucky to be with your dad when he passed. I was up here at home in Alaska when mine went.
Keep your memories alive and tell your kids about when you were a kid and all you did when you and your dad were together.
Remember him often.
GOD rest you, Bill Karr.
I am sure he will say what we all heard a number of times,"You don't salute a working man!"
But this is one of those times where it is not only appropriate, but deserved and call for!
ATTENTION ON DECK! CHIEF KARR PRESENT!
HAND SALUTE!
Doug......ONE more thing and I will be still....ha There is no Radioman listing for Enlisted rates and I couldn't add it without going back to the drop down. Lots of us OLD sailors were not in when the IT rates came along ...and still like to be referred to as RADIOMEN anyway. Can you help??? Thanks
Doug
Thanks for your efforts..
Hi Doug.
Not trying to mind your business, but I have a comment that I would like you to consider.
I am a member of 10 groups on this site and only two of them get a lot of play. RTC San Diego and Mess Decks. I think if we listed the Rate of Members on their profiles it would be easier to connect with an individual and invite them to a particular Group..ie Naval Comminucations etc I have found a few Radiomen and chatted back and forth with them, but most are unaware of the Naval Communications group. You know "Birds of a feather flock together" and maybe our members would find it easier to hookup with those of like backgrounds with the RATE tag on the profile. Just a thought......
Howdy Doug,
when did you crew on Yancey?
Me; on board HM3 with Battalion Dcouts of BLT 1/6 USMC during mid 1963.
Served with Fred aka Fritz McCoy and worked out of sick bay with him and HM3 Wayne Roberts.
Best time of my life.
Wishing You all thats GOOD.
