    Well, you'll have noticed I retired thirty years ago . . . but I suppose "congratulations" can still be gracefully and gratefully acknowledged. Looking back, a 20-year career is the blink of an eye, and I should have done 30; at the time, however -- though it was mostly, for me, a lot of fun -- those 20 years seemed like forever.

    Thanks Doug. I'd posted a notice in the FRA today - hoping to find someone who might remember my Dad. (Dubious, as he'd be 91 now!) I heard from Bill Karr about this site, and have shared it with my husband so he can join, too.

    Just came across the site and thought it a good idea to join. Served from 61-66, most of the time at NAS Oceana with VA 42.

    thanks Douglas! I met retired Captain Richard R. "Dick" Pohli at breakfast the other day. I had pictures of my fathers medals on my iPhone. He was able to explain what they meant. He also told me about one of the men in his class (group?) that he was trying to get the purple heart for for 3 years and nothing was moving. I then thought I'd look for a Navy Vets org online, and BINGO!

    I don't want to put his email here but if you can contact me securely/privately, I'll pass along his info and perhaps you two can carry on a discussion. It would be interesting to see if this community could connect/verify the accounts of service.

    Many great things and possibilities here.

    YEAH, THAT IS ME ALRIGHT....I AM ONE OF THOSE THAT TAKES A WHILE TO BE SATISFIED AND PLANT IT. THE ADDRESS IS WHERE I WILL BE STAYING. THERE ALSO WAS A TIME THAT I WAS NOT REALLY ABLE TO ATTEND TO EVERYTHING I WANTED TO TEND TO, THEREFORE; I HAD A LITTLE BIT OF A CLEAN UP TO DO-ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT I DO NOT HAVE A COMPUTER YET IN MY HOME. SOON THOUGH!!! I THINK IT IS REALLY AWSOME THAT YOU PAY ME MIND AND I APPRECIATE YOUR SHARP MEMORY. THANKS.

    Thanks Doug! I hope to be adding some Iraq pics as soon as I get them scanned onto this computer. I just retired from the Texas Army National Guard last week. I will probably put a pic up from that ceremony as well. Good to hear back from you.
