Thanks. I will try to scan my fading, yellowed, and 30+ year old pictures of when I was in the Navy. These pics were from 2006/07 during and immediately after my DoD service down range. Cameras were not allowed on the submarine but I have a few from RTC-Orlando and Submarine School -Groton, CT.
The Marines in the pics below are the logistics personnel that I worked with at Camp Fallujah. I dealt with similar groups at Camp Ramadi and Taqaddum Air Base. I was the only DoD non-approprated funds security specialist for those three sites, so I had to fly by helo every 4-5 days from one site to another. My job was to track down lost, stolen and misdirected logistics, confiscate counterfeit money, which was common, and coordinate with the NCOICs at the different sites, naval investigators at NCIS, and Army CID where they were active. Finally, all of my online reports went to a DoD security supervisor at Camp Liberty near Baghdad and his boss at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Interestingly, I ran into one case of human trafficking involving a Jordanian contractor to our Defense Department. My chancy intervention resulted in the Jordanian getting deported back to Ammon, Jordan and his Filipina (female) employee with four young sons in the Philippines getting a position with the Army and Air Force Exchange System (AAFES) at Al-Asad Air Base, Iraq.
The young boy in the pics is my [then] 9 year old son, Christian Samuel Lian Yu. Lian Yu was born in China and he became a part of our family in 2003 shortly after he turned 5. He will be 13 this July. Lian Yu is currently a senior ranking Boy Scout with the rank of Star Scout and membership in the Order of the Arrow, trumpet player in his school symphonic orchastra, Presidential Honor Student last year and Principal's Honor Roll this year.
The woman in the study is my stunningly beautiful wife, Air Force veteran and retiree, and registered nurse.
