  • Hey all, I was at AIMD Airframes from 91 to 94 great job. Made first class there, got my Air Warfare wings and met my first wife while stationed there, the blood sucking vampire that she was..........oh yeah divorced her in the end. But anyhow retired and living the dream in upstate new York now.

  • What a terrific duty station.  I was assigned to AIMD NAS North Island from January 1978 for 3 years.  I worked on the AN/USM-403 HATS, repairing circuit boards for the S3-A avionics.  I was the AIMD Division Training Petty Officer for 13 months.  After this I transferred to VS-38 for 3, and back to NASNI NAMTGD1066 to teach the SH-60B Weapons System.  9 years at NASNI.  Loved it!

  • Just came on board here....... and would hope for some name recognition from old NORIS shipmates,  or SERE classmates,  or old P2-V Neptune aircrewman, or HC-1 'rescue swimmers',  or  'Pueblo crew' acquaintances, or fellow Squadron Flag Football Team members, AT's,  etc. etc. etc.   from those years I was at, in, and around North Island '69-'71...........  before moving on.   See my profile........ write if you think we crossed paths,  or hoisted a few at the same bar...............   Stay chilly shipmates,    Edward (Ed) Kilanowski

  • I was stationed at FACSFAC North Island from 1989 to 1991. I was assigned Admin duty as YN3. I learned a lot and gained a lot of experience that I have carried with me.

  • Clinic, 93-96

  • Checked onboard in Bremerton in 85.  Was down in North Island/Coronado from then until 88.

  • I arrived at VS41 right after AO A school in Jacksonville. I was attached to VAL4 leaving for Vietnam after training here and in Yuma. I remember a little eatery a block or so from our hangar area that had excellent bar-b-que. I absolutely loved this area. Great weather and lots of places to go.

I also remember that we couldn't enter the barracks until 1430. Sometimes we got off early, and I remember laying in this lush, green grass, breeze gently blowing, and listening to "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry. Great memories.

  • I was stationed at NAS North Island Weapons Department, AUW Shop, and Small Arms Range from 1977 to 1979. Had a good tour, learned alot, and made some good friends.

  • I was in the galley as asst. watch captain, and then barracks, supply back in 88-89.I loved that base.Awesome times..Joined the North Island Color Guard and did a few parades.Later, when stationed on the Kitty Hawk there,we had a group of us that had our own spot in the base club, just like on "Cheers",lol.

  • my ship the uss hector ar-7 repair was stationed here*

NAS 1960-61

My dad was a corpsman stationed at the NAS hospital 1960-61.  We lived in navy housing off base in Coronado.  Where the bay bridge is today.  The old photo, (and I had to fix it up), is of an evening air show on the base.  That's me in the cockpit.  If someone would have told me back then, that I would be in the Navy someday, (and maybe someone did), I probably would have giggled, (and I probably did giggle).  Because I'm sure I thought back then-  that I was already in the Navy! And being a…

Tad at North Island

I was station TAD at te North Island October of 1962 till June of 1963. Was assigned as a compartment cleaner by the mess hall, until my Pattern Making School started in June. Right after arriving there while in waiting to be assigned to that, the Cuba Missile Crisis hits. I spend one long day down at the docks, while they loaded Marines and an aircraft carrier. I was at a gate and some clown forgot about me and I was there till late at night. No food and I would sneak between two cars to…
