  • Hey Dave,  Mike Janeski here, pre-com unit 72-75.  I am a member of the association, and have attended one reunion.   Had fun, and was going to attend the one in Philly, but 'whew' the prices for those hi-dollar hotel rooms gave me reason not to come.

As a Dental Tech, perhaps you knew Freddie Ott, and DT1 that was one of the first dental techs on board.   Fred had a little accident with a .25 cal. handgun, and shot himself in the hand with it.   A real big guy, with real thick hands,..the bullet lodged under the skin on the upper side of his hand.  In Fred's words "After I got home from the hospital, the first damn thing I did was get a bigger pistol and got rid of that little pea shooter."

  • sorry its been a while, I spend all my free time scratching at cracks in bedrock for gold up around central ALASKA.

im in the middle of my appeal to a rejection they gave me, due to no proof.

I remember by the time I met you down in dental I was really hurting, especially my neck

im really embarrassed about what happened after but I had a big old pile heaped up on me from home and there on the ship.

the VA. denied me back when I first got out, so I didn't push, not knowing how the system worked back then.

now im trying to find a witness or two as my condition then.

Ive been trying to narrow down the days to exactly when I was on that detail, with several others from other divisions, but not sure how or were to go.

When that trunk hit me it really screwed me up and I was complaining pretty regular, but the records don't show those visits to medic..

ive been classified 50% so far but that was from other service.

let me know if you have any ideas that might help id really appreciate it.

    thankyou                                                   JOE E. WOLFE

  • I was in A-Gang.  :)

  • I WAS REALLYIN BAD SHAPE BY THE TIME I GOT MY WISDOM TEETH PULLED CAUSE I OVERDOSED ON THOSE PERCODANS I WAS ISSUED AFTER THE EXPERIANCE OF GETTING 5 WISDOM TEETH PULLED [ ONE SPLIT INTO]

DO YOU REMEMBER ANYTHING OF ME OR THAT DAY HOW I LOOKED OR ACTED, I SERIOUSLY NEED SOME KIND OF WITNESS.

  • Yes, as far as I understand it. I EOAS'd as the final changes were taking place. There was a lot of dissent in the ranks on both sides (DT and HM) on how badly this would effect advancement (Corpsman were at 102% manning) at the time.
  • DT's were absorbed into the HM rating in 2005. They're all Corpsmen now. They can still go thru all of the dental training, keep the same jobs, but they all go thru NavHospCorpSchool now.
  • Welcome Aboard, David!
