  • I served in the Nimitz from November 1976-March 1979.I was a mess management specialist,assigned to S-2 Division.

    Hoping to meet some of my fellow division members through this network.

  • I was an AK1/AKC while serving aboard Nimitz.

  • Howdy, I served aboard her from 1974 to 1978 in S-6 Division as Balance Crew. I knew lots of folks from the Air Wing Squadrons and I was LPO/CPO in the Supply Response Section. It would be kick A** to hear from some of the now Old Fogies I served with back in the day!!! 

  • served aboard her sept 79 to june 82 in s-7 with tad's to vent and mess deck MAA. passed out every cigar on the ship when my son was born.

  • I was on the USS Nimitz from 1972 to 1975.  I was on the pre-commissioning crew in Newport News, VA.  I got out of the Navy in August of 1975 just after our certification in Cuba.

  • I was on USS Nimitz from 1979 to 1980 as the CAG MO. Great memories on a great ship. I was onboard for the 2 beer celebration at 150+ days at sea, the hostage attempt with helo maintenance support and the take over of the ship by the Polly Wogs as we crossed the Equator on 9 Jan 1980

Ship,s Roster at commisioning

I was assigned to the Nimitz on the original pre-commissioning unit in 1972 and transferred on the day of commissioning. I would like to obtain a list of the crew on the day of commissioning. Also, if anyone out there was on the pre-commissioning unit please reply.

DOES ANYONE REMEMBER ???

THAT DAYat pier 81 or 82 we onloaded FLAG for the next cruise, i was seriously injured that day but the records mysteriously disappeared, now its caught up with me and can barely walk with cane, and trying to get disability / or records that were lost

May 26, 1981. where were yiu.

It's been 30 yrs since that unforgettable night. Most of us were in our racks for liberty in Lauderdale. We didn't expect 2 days in Norfolk. At about 12:05 am they announced "Battle Stations". We lost 14 and more then 80 wounded. I was in aft BDS and all the class V and wounded were located midship and foward.. Up all night hit the rack at 2pm I worked with CDR Dan Golden who was oral Surg aboard chief Dental officer who identified dead.
