  • Bob WE never saw the coke plant either. This compound was residential quarters for the admin bunch from the States. It was fenced in and gated , for protection, I guess. Mainly, I remember the traffic, having to pay about $5.00 in Bot to dance with a girl in the bars and the pretty Shrines.  I never was one to take pictures but wish I had those years...

  • Hi Bob   When you were in Bangkok did the Americans at Coca Cola invite you guys to their compound?  I was there in '60 with DesRon !3 (USS McKean DDR-784) and they had all of us to their compound for food and drinks for the week we were there. Great to see some American for a change. ha Nice bunch. I think we were the first US Ships there in about ten years then. I reemember you took your life in your own hands if you got near a Cab in the streets...Carzy drivesr back then.

  • bob, I added you to my freinds list. bob peiffer( uss washtenaw county lst-1166) '68-70
  • Hi Bob, it looks like we were in the same places but at different times. I was on the Washtenaw in '61-'62 and spent a lot of time in Dong Tam in '67.
    Cheers,
    David
