  • Happy New Year to all of my fellow Cold War Veterans.

  • Happy New Year to you too Joe.. and Jerold, and Jerry, and all the rest.

Joe, I see you were in almost the same time that I was.. July 62 to Sept 66. I only had a two month extension instead of four. I managed to get in trouble during those last two months by showing up during parade formation without a hash mark on my dress blues.

  • Steve and Jerald --- Thank you two for the info even if I wasn't qualified. I never get excited about anything anymore, but thanks for trying to help. Happy New Year to you two (Steve and Jerald) and all other shipmates around the globe. Stay healthy and safe in your endeavors. Again thank you.

  • Steve, you are correct I jumped on the line that said he was extended and misread the rest of his post.

Sorry Joe if I got you excited about something that turned out to be noting, my bad.

  • Joe.. The Retroactive Stop Loss pay was only for those who were extended between 9/11/2001 and 9/30/2009.

Vietnam era vets who were extended (including myself) don't qualify.

  • By the way Joe: That suggestion below is legal but just ask the Tax Man how it's classified and recorded

  • Since you missed the deadline to get the $500.00 HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Count it as a loss and deduct the $500.00 Dollars off your Income Tax as a Contribution to the reduction of the National Debt

  • Joe,

Congress had passed a law that was to help pay for the time that members of the military were involuntarily extended. It amounted to about $500.00 for each month.. The original deadline was extended several times to allow people to file their claims. But sadly the final deadline was Oct. 12, 2012 and was not extended nor will it be.. i am sorry that you missed it.
