  • Hi Jim, I remember you picking me up at my house in National City to go to a shop party. You pulled up in the driveway and used your HAM to call me on the phone. One look at that old photo and it all came back to me.
  • Hello Craig, I had the box van. It was a metro 4 cyl but was gas. Also had the ham radio. I sold the van to ML1 McGrath just before I retired. I think he had some large dogs that he wanted it for.
  • Bryan Manasco, Welcome aboard. I ran the bearing shop at SIMA in '77 to '79.
  • James McCalla, Did you drive a box van with a marine diesel engine and a ham radio?
  • Are you guys talking about the one on the Holland? I thought a ML2 Smith was the culprit.
  • I remember MLCS Denbow tell the magnesium story. Not sure if he was in the shop or the division office when this took place. He said he did not want to pour magnesium but had direct orders from the repair officer to do this anyway. I only know of one molder who has experience pouring this metal. Maybe he will fill us in on the details, right Dev.

Posablly seeing about starting up a navy molders museum?

I know they dismissed our rate back in 1997. I would hope there are enough of us left to possably  get together and see about creating a museum somewhere  here in the states to preserve our long history and heritage that we all have shared as Molders. Any of you out there please give me a response if you read this Discussion.                                      Thanks.
