  • I think a good paint job will make the FID look as good as new. It's amazing how the Navy says it's too rusty and too far gone to preserve as a museum. This ship has too much history to scrap or sink.
  • Thanks for the link Kim. The FID looks quite different from it's active days.
  • http://picasaweb.google.com/mattgineo/ForestallEdit?feat=email#slid... You might try to copy and paste this link. It has photos of the Forrestal move from last Friday
  • how much is it worth when sold as scrap metal (Forrestal that is), lets buy it, we all chip in, everybody gets a condo on board anchored offshore or permanent pier side, id buy if i could

  • Howdy everyone, been awhile since I have checked this page out and noticed I am getting behind on staying in touch. Has been a hectic year with the job. I am starting to see names again that I recognize from my time with the Falcons from 79-82. Would be good to hear from anyone I worked with or went on Liberty with. Anyone that remembers me in Egypt keep the stories to yourself...LOL. Well anyway won't bore everyone and hope to get reaquainted with old friends and shipmates. Am toying with the idea of going back to VA.Beach as the wife would like to see where I was stationed. Hope this finds everyone doing well and talk to ya soon. I will start checking things more often. Frank "Cowboy" Kistler
  • Just received email from the Forrestal Society people that the USS Forrestal will be moved from Newport Naval Station on July the 15th (16th,17th,or 18th) if bad weather. They're towing her to Philly ship yard but have not said what happens after she gets there. Will post more if I hear. There's a small cruise ship with some $25 seats available that is going to escort her down to Philly if anyone's interested. Could be the beginning of the end for Forrestal !
  • Hey Falcons I have been to the pensacola naval air museum and they have a wall with all the pilots that have 10,000 traps and CDR Zallatoper is one of them thats a lot of flying Dale George

  • Recognized you also. Wheren't you a plane captain? I was thinking this was the 72 cruise but it was the 71 cruise ? Recently found Steve Gullion over in Indiana and Ray Kohl in Pa. and also Slats ( Richard Slatniske ) over in Pa. also.John Drees (still a good friend of mine) lives here in the Cincinnati area. Any other of the guys from the 71 cruise you have kept up with ? I hope we can get this reunion together.
