  • Welcome HM1 Oropeza! I was at RTC just before you in Sept of 72 and graduated from Balboa HCS in March 73! So little left in either of all those places we remember!

  • Company 77... QM1 Gassman was our Company Commander....hated washing the dixie cups with Wisk and drill with the old beat up rifles.....good times and the best day was the day I left to my "A" school up the hill to the Balboa Naval Hospital...

  • My first experience with the Navy was our arrival at RTC San Diego.  We got in late, took the rest of the night to check in and stow our gear.  When the CC started beating on the Shit Can right after I closed my eyes, I thought I was having a nightmare.  But the worst part was the first morning marching to the galley.  I had never seen seagulls like this before, and while I was marching, the CC stopped everybody, and came over to me and yelled in my face.  "Boy, you queer for birds?"  He then had me fall out and run around the rest of the guys, yelling that "I am queer for birds!"  That was the last time I EVER came to his attention!!

  • I was part of Company 217 back in 1967. Don't suppose anyone out there in the same company as me. J.T. Junker was the Company Commander.

  • I Live in Corydon, Iowa.no I don't remember him my menory is not as good as it use to be.

  • Do you remember the guy they had at parade rest in just his skivies chewing on a dirty pair? About the last week of boot camp. He had never changed them so he would have less to wash. He did get them clean. By the way, where do you live. I am in Tulsa.

  • Hi Alan well I found out I was in Company 535, so we was right buy each other.

  • Hi Donald. Small world. I do remember the train ride. I really enjoyed it. My CC was J.W. Perry DCCA. We were his last company. He was retiring. I went to Millington after Christmas. Jan 3 as I remember. AFU "A" school then TD. Got out in Sept. I was supposed to go to Barbers Point but had a glich. Got 2 weeks restriction and extra duty. Changed my orders to North Island. Worth every minute of it but I do wish I had been less foolish. I was in Anti-Submarine warfare tactics. Right by the quay-wall where the carriers tied up. Discharged Sept. of 66. It would be interesting to share some memories with you. I've still got the plastic record with my Anchor. "Sounds of boot camp."
