  • At boot camp September 29,1969 thru December, 1969. Original company was 636. I went on to be a member of the Blue Jacket Choir Company 4007. I went through at least 12 graduations during my stay at boot. We brought all the graduating companies on the grinder at Graduation Day. It was a blast.
  • Graduated with Company 044 Feb-May 1977
  • Company 72-410, from Oct to Dec 1972. Was the "chow runner". Company Commander was RMC R.A. Long.
  • Eighteen weeks! that's a lot of boot camp....
  • Boot camp in June of 52, EIGHTEEN weeks. Hotter than a whores dream, and no rain in sight. Eight weeks at Camp Elliott, then the rest of it mainside. At Elliott we drug eleven rattlesnakes out from under the barracks and hung 'em on the chainlink fence. Broken wrist, set back from my original company to Co 531. BM Chief Engledow in charge.
  • Somehow I thought there were only 10 General orders.......a little
study would be in order for me to be able to recite any, though, LoL.
The NTC C.O. is the same as when I was there in '72....as is the
RTC X.O. I wonder if NTC was a decent assignment for an officer,
or if it were a career killer. I'd think it was OK, San Diego shore duty....

  • See if this doesn't prompt a synapse or two to come to life...
  • I know that looking back it seemed to go fast,
but I seem to remember time just creeping along
when I was experiencing it. I certainly
can't say the Navy didn't keep us busy, LoL.
Where did everyone go for their first liberty, after
graduation? Tijuana was officially off limits for boots,
    and downtown was frowned upon.
We were strongly urged to go to Balboa Park and/or the Zoo....
(and that is what I wound up doing.)
  • went through in 1951, Ithink the comany I was in was 403, time went by so fast its a blurr,it was April of 51 and went abourd the Iowa (BB-61) the end of June of 51. years ago!
