"Joe, I knew Bruce Champagne, he was just leaving the Yellowstone foundry when I got there in '82 or maybe early '83. I bought his beater 4 door Gran Torino (none of the doors were the same color). He ripped me off and charged me $75.00 and a bottle…"
I don't know if you were in the foundry on the Yellowstone when this happend. Do you remember during a steel pour, Jeff Dozier was skimming and yelled out to a bunch of the boot camps that were watching us, "someone get me some f*** ing…"
"Well I have to agree with Dan Brown this site should be to share some stories and talk about old times. We should leave the politics elsewhere. In my shop on the Yellowstone we didn't discuss politics and we defenitely had some divergent views being…"
"Small community for sure, I had MLCS Paul, MLC Gundelfinger great guy and fellow surfer, ML1 Burkett, and ML2 Ringer in A school. I served with MLC Audette on the Yellowstone (another great guy that refused to do plaques whenever we could get away…"
"Dan,

"Hey Dennis - Welcome Aboard. The Stone was a great ship, full of good people, Charles, and Scales came up through the rate when I was in the Foundry, both good people, Roxanne and I were very close friends. That Foundry transformed during my time on…"
"Chris
It seems that I must have just missed you and Dennis in fact you were probably replacements for a few of us that were moving on at that time. I went to A school after already being stationed on the Stone and left the foundry to go to SD for a…"
"Hey Danny - I talk to Todd every now and then mostly keep in touch through Facebook. Jeff lives close to San Francisco but we don't keep in touch very well. He has raised his kids and I'm just starting, I have 5, one girl, four boys (my own hockey…"
Can any one confirm or deny that MLC Audett passe away from a heart attack or something? think i heard that from Todd. i saw some old shipmates in thes comments that made couple pay grades since i saw them last.
Hey Steve, 5 KIDS !! I have 2 girls that was enough for me my youngest turns 20 next week. I'm Correction's Officer in a state prison here in Huntingdon. Got over 12 years in now and hopefully I'll be able to retire in 8 to 10 years. Denny Pennington served with me on the Sierra. He's the one to turn me on to this site. Hope to be able to run into more old shipmates.
Must have just missed you when I did reserves on Yellowstone. I was on USS Prairie AD-15 from 1985-1987 in Long Beach,CA. Nice to meet a fellow Molder. I was also stationed with Dan Young on USS Sierra AD-18 in Charleston,SC from 1990-1993, then went to USS Puget Sound from 1993-1995.
Hey Steve what's up? Yea I'm still around. Moved back to my hometown. Did you get back to California? have you been keeping in touch with anyone else from the shop?
