There, I think I have it. That's me, second from the top right, the John Glenn fourth from the top right and Jimmy Ford fifth from the top right, and Terry Miley far left on the bottom row. After looking again, Joey Robertson was not there, he was in my "A" School class.

I hope this comes out alright, here goes!

  • Hi George!  The comment about John Glenn possibly being in a m/c accident didn't happen, at least that early on. We used to ride together, go shooting together, etc.  John rode his old yellow Harley and me on my Goldwing.  John and I were stationed at 32d st NAVSTA foundry from 86 - 88. We both attended Jimmy Fords shipboard funeral at his ship at the pier. We attended J school together class 87001 in 1987. Terry Miley, (and Joey Robertson?) were in the class too. We were all E-5s at the time . I'll post the J school picture as soon as I get this board figured out.

Then John and I were both assigned out of rate security detachment billets. We shared a two man room at Lakehurst, N.J. security school in 88'. He was then sent to the Azores as base police, and I was sent to GTMO for the same. Then in late 91' or early 92' I decided to get out, and was sent to NAS Jacksonville for separation. John and his wife Tami were then living in civilian housing in Kings Bay, Georgia,  he was on a tender there.  I visited them there, and they came down to Jacksonville to visit me in an apartment I rented there temporarily. All was well with John at that time. We kept in touch for a short while after I moved to Vegas, he bought a Harley Road King. Then after a short while his tele# was disconnected and I never heard from him again. We were good friends, and I've always felt something went wrong.  If you or anyone else may have heard anything since I was appreciate and info.

I hope this message find you well! I be posting more here in the future. I'm a noob to this site.

  • Hi George- the motorcycle accident was actually Jimmy Ford- don't know how I got the names crossed!
  • Yea buddy, you look different without that beard. Remember the day you had to shave it off.
  • I was a pm3 in carpenter shop during 92' med.criuse.I remember Chief Brewer,wade,charles and the foundry.
I miss being haze gray and underway........Nice to hear
    from a former Yellowstone sailor.
  • You've got GREAT pictures! Thanks for sharing them. I remember hearing about an accident were a "Johnny" was killed. I'm pretty sure that he was a molder. Terry Miley told me about it- they may have been in J school together. I got the impression that it hadn't been too many years earlier (this was 88). Either he pulled out in front of a vehicle- or someone pulled out in front of him.
  • Well I see you got signed up,now add yourself to the Molder and ship's lists. Al Meller is on here also. later, Denny
