  • Served aboard from 1988-1989 as a Machinery Repairman

  • Was on board in the Pattern Shop from 1995 til decomissioning in January 96.

  • Was aboard the Stone Mar '81 - Aug '85. Started out in Weps Logistics, then went to Repair Dept, shop 38B/67E as LPO. I worked in Weps Dept off/on when they needed someone w/clearance for weps onloads, and anything that required a Top secret. Also stood duty weps officer. Then I made CPO & got transferred. Good duty on the Stone.

  • I came aboard in 1992. Met MLC Brewer and HT1 Wade. Made my first Med- Cruise.(summer meds are great) Only onboard for a year. Not much molding going on. It was cool to have a shop up on the flight deck. Shout out to Eric Charles, Theodore( T-Money) Montgomery and Jeff Smith.

It seems that I must have just missed you and Dennis in fact you were probably replacements for a few of us that were moving on at that time. I went to A school after already being stationed on the Stone and left the foundry to go to SD for a while with a guy named Todd Wuerdeman who retired as an MLC, and Jeff Dozier who I joined the Navy with. When we came back we had talked a few of the other students (who were all in the top 5 at school) to go with us and Robbie Jenkins was one of those guys another was Greg McKinley. Do you keep in touch with Robbie? It would be nice to track him down. I think he was from Knoxville TN if I recall correctly. The Yellowstone Foundry was great duty for me and I made alot of freinds. We were proud to do a dangerous job that scared alot of other people. Long live the Sandrats!
  • Hey Dennis - Welcome Aboard. The Stone was a great ship, full of good people, Charles, and Scales came up through the rate when I was in the Foundry, both good people, Roxanne and I were very close friends. That Foundry transformed during my time on the ship it went from 81-A "gift shop" (at first nothing but plaques) to a real working foundry. Once we became known for doing real work, then that's all we seemed to get we only made plaques when work slowed down and we didn't have any other choice. It was fun wasn't it?
