I think so far it is just me, but I am good at talking to myself.LOL's. Someone has to lead the way....I will check back in every once in awhile for updates!
  • Permission to come aboard, lol. Thanks Douglas, finally a site just for us squids. I'll be off and on this site from time to time. I was an EN 3, but when I got out, my friends said that i made EN2, go figure.lol My first command was the great ship USS KIDD DDG-993, Norfolk Va. My first command was the best command I am proud to say. Don't want to get into my second, lol. Thanks again Douglas, great site. You definitly turned two on this site.

    Your friend,
    John E. Friend. (LOL)
  • Thanks for the welcome Douglas. I will try to get back to this site often. I came off the USS Oakhill as an RM1. We were all over the world but didn't get to Korea. Participated in the first H bomb test in the Pacific though. We have been having reunions for 12 years so maybe I can get some of the others on this site.

  • Why thanks Douglas. I've liked your blog for some time and found this link there. When you get real bored you can drop by my blog at www.1GoodReason.com and let me know what you think.

I was an ET2 (SS) On a Sub out of Norfolk for 5 years in the late 70's. God that sounds so long ago...

Thanks for making a great site.

    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Aloha Douglas,
I posed a question to you and I don't see a reply. If you did, I don't see it here yet.
  • Aloha Douglas,
I was just curious, how many other Marines do you have on this website? I worked with the Navy alot as a rigger at 1st Air Delivery and with different units on WestPac's and I'm still in touch with many sailors that I've had the great pleasure of working with in the past. I am going to invite them here. Thank you for such a wonderful site and I will always respect the fact that the Navy is spoken for here. Semper Fi
  • Hello Douglas,
Thanks for your comments. To clarify, I served during the Veitnam ERA, and was never in country there, Thank God. I was shore based at NAS Oceana at VA-42 an A-6 training command, later transfered over to the stations paraloft at the base. I was never lucky piviledged to serve on board any of our carrier, except the "Old" Lexington when it was stationed out of Pensacola, FL. I was anyways assigned to the groud crew when our squadron had it's time alloctated for desk time. Long hours of waiting for there return and hot seating the aircraft for the next flight crew.
    Again, thanks for your comments.

    Sincerely,
Thomas A Metcalfe, former parachute rigger E-4 back then.
  • Thanks Doug! It is indeed a pleasure to log on to your web site. Neat job. Jack Crawford
