  • I so agree! Although the most recent MOH recipient was more than worthy of it, there seems to be way more bling on the chests of this most recent generation of vets! But, the military and it's character is a reflection of the civilian leadership's goals and policies. We know how that is these days! Too much time and money has been spent on Fashion and Gadgets! They should have learned a lesson from the USS Cole incident! It wasn't some modern high tech weapon that killed those sailors! Hopefully before it's too late we will get back to basics and reduce the chance of being caught off guard again! However, it will probably take yet another Pearl Harbor for a wake up call!

  • For me thinking about today's military -- it is a choice (no draff) and a young man told me he enlisted for the government benefits. I guess since many of we old guys gave up so much, I for one resent all this media "hero" stuff. The heros died at D Day, Iwo Jima, North Korea, & yes Vietnam.  I respect the kids, but resent all the PC movement. Also, it is hard for me to accept women advancing being promoted so easy for different reasons -- PC movement.
