HI DAN
WELL WE MIGHT HAVE CROSSED PATHS AT SUBIC BAY WAY STATION AT PORT SERVIVES DOWN BY THE CUBI BULKHEAD.I WAS THERE FROM 68/69
Welcome aboard Dan. Are you referring to that long flight from Travis to the PI? The one with nothing to do during the flight but sit, eat, sleep, and go to the head? Not necessarily in that order? I was lucky. I had a window seat and could stare at the sky and ocean for hours! LOL!
Thanks for the LOX... I had a place in Olongapo for most of my 2 yrs. there. 60 pesos a month, so I just traded my monthly ration of 2 cartons of cigarettes for the rent. They loved Salems over there, and I didn't smoke.
I don't remember it. I was almost all of '70 and '71. The parachute loft was just down the street from the OPS bldg. I think.
No Dan I was at the avaition refuel as a refuel truck driver in 1962-1964. We were located on the Seaplane Ramp wher we kept the trucks and slept during our shifts. I don't remember exactly which barracks we lived in on the hill, but I do remember it was quite close to the swimming pool and gym where I spent much of my time. That is with the exception of the many, many hours I spent in town and at Paradice Beach out by Subic City. I was 19-20 years old back then and after finding out what the draw was about Olongapo and the villiages I made it my goal in life to drink in every bar in Olongapo. I think I failed in my quest. they kept building bars and adding hostess that I wanted to sample too. I am sorry I cannot be of any help in your desire for information in ther '70's. In '68-'70 I was back in Subic as a EN2 working at the Provost Marshall's Department running the PBR's in Harbor Patrol. I would think the F4 flaming out happened after I left in '70. Do you have any photos from your tour over there? It would be appreciated if you could post them on this site for everybody to enjoy.
