  • Nice to know Thanks

  • Hi Kevin

He is a friend of mine and for sure I did send him the photos.  Also the photos with the text on them were taken by another  friend of mine.  Not sure how they ended up on that web site but Jim at subicbaypi.com has original copies on his Subic Bay web site.  Those are of much better image quality.

  • Spent 30 days at the water ski range in 64 waiting for the Bonnie Dick to come in. Water skiing was better than working parties....

  • Just did a google search and found this web site with some Olongapo photos from around 1950.

Attached is a photo of the Admiral Theater back then.  It was still around during 1958-1960 when I was stationed at NAS Cubi Point.3439410902?profile=original

  •  I seem to remember a movie theater somewhere up from, or around that farmers market.  Can't remember the name of it.  But there was a kitchen, and a bar in the lobby.  And for a few more pesos above the price of admission, you could eat and drink in the balcony.  The movies were in tagalog, but it was kinda fun anyway.  Another thing about the movie.  During a tense or dramatic scene you could hear a certain sound coming from the audience.  Something like a clicking sound that the viewers would make with their mouths.  A way of expressing emotion.  I guess it's just a cultural thing.  Like Filipino guys holding hands as they walked along.  Not gay, but a sign that they are best friends I believe.

  • Anyone ever go over to Continental City and hang? One of my buddies got plastered and tried to ride an old sow out back in the pen. She like to have tore his shoulder off before he could get out. He failed to share our humor after he crawled out of the pen. Now that was some serious bar hopping. lol

  • What amazed me was how the dude stood in the ring taking bets and collecting or paying off by throwing the money. And yes, the loosers were mighty tasty.lol

  • Navel Base Subic Bay is not just for personnel that was stationed there but for all who visited her too, come join and share your experiences!!

Subic/Olongapo 1990-91

I'm doing some research and would appreciate feedback from those who were station dito at Cubi or SRF in 1990-91. Personally, I was there in the early 80's so much of my recollection is irrelevant for what I am looking for.  1. Bars and hotelsWhat memorable bars and hotels were around at that time? I remember a few from my time, but I'm sure they were long gone. 2. The JungleWas this still a thing in 90-91? Anyone remember bars from there? 3. SR FenceWhen did the fencing go up on the bridge…

I am living in Angeles City and have lived here for about 7 years. There have been many many changes BUT... It's still the same Philippines.Have not been down to Olongapo for about a year. The base is still recognizable as a former U.S. Base but it has been its all commercial now.I even have a friend of mine on the base. He is Japanese American and he runs a company making solenoids. There is almost nothing in Olongapo proper that is fun entertainment wise.Barrio Barretto still has many bars,…
