William and David Re-enlist

This re-enlistment ceremony was aboard the USS Spartanburg County LST 1192 in 1976. We had to get special permission to wear our cracker jack uniforms to re-enlist in because the navy had already changed uniforms to the coat and tie. Though David and I were two of only three people on the ship authorized to wear the cracker jacks once we took the oath we were out of uniform. That was the last day we ever wore that uniform. Even when the navy did bring the cracker jack uniform back it was made out of a different type of material and therefore the old wool uniform was not an authorized uniform.
