Read more…Lindsey,You are probably right, I think it was the sulfur smell to the boiled eggs. When we had troops aboard the chow was not great, the chow was great when in port and no troops aboard.

study would be in order for me to be able to recite any, though, LoL.
The NTC C.O. is the same as when I was there in '72....as is the
RTC X.O. I wonder if NTC was a decent assignment for an officer,
or if it were a career killer. I'd think it was OK, San Diego shore duty....
but I seem to remember time just creeping along
when I was experiencing it. I certainly
can't say the Navy didn't keep us busy, LoL.
Where did everyone go for their first liberty, after
graduation? Tijuana was officially off limits for boots,
and downtown was frowned upon.
We were strongly urged to go to Balboa Park and/or the Zoo....
(and that is what I wound up doing.)
