Went to Boot Camp at RTC, Great Lakes. June 1976 had a blast.
Once I went through Field Med School at Montford Point at Camp Lejeune, I never wore my Navy uniform again, only a Marine uniform from then till I got out 3 years later.
The 1st Class Corpsmen on the Destroyer I was on (DD 872) was transfered to Vietnam and was KIA the first or second week he was there. Robert, you must have been in the group just before us at Great Lakes, we were in blues. Doug, OUTSTANDING (Silver Star)!!
Robert,
There were 638 Hospital Corpsmen "Killed in Action" during the Vietnam war! They were FMF Corpsmen, NEC-HM-8404's.
I just remembered, my father in law in WWII was a Navy Corpsman and wore the Marine uniform .
