  • Chief Water Tender Tomich USS Uath 7 December 1941.

  • There was a Chief Water Tender back in those days that got the Medal of Honor during the attack on Peal Harbor,he keeped the Boiler on line.

  • "Snipes rule the lower world".  Had that on a Sweatshirt I got at the exchange on Base at Great Lakes after I graduated BT A-School.  The picture above it was a BT and MM with their hands around the neck of an ET.  Wish I still had it.

nsfo sucked f-76 was pretty good burning jp-5 you could burn but superheater temps woud be higher and it did burn cleaner but was expensive to burn in a boiler and we made ourown overloads on the coral sea drilled out some 11s and made 9s for full power runs and wartimeuse. Steaming an m-type with no abc"s was a real challenge but it made the watch go by fast.
