  • To all you great Boiler techs. Does anyone know where i can buy a hat pin with the BT (hero's engine) on it. They make one for Machinist Mates, and i've seen one on a former Sailors hat a few years ago. I've tried most of the Navy and Military sights, plus e-bay. Now you know our rate was deleted from the list of Navy occupations in 1996. I was talking to an active duty Machinist Mate last year at the U.S.S. Yorktown's reunion in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. He told me you BT'S must have been pretty good as it took 3 new ratings to cover you. So i propose that from now on we should all be reclassified as Supersnipes. AL LARIVEE BT/3 U.S.N 1961-1965

sprayer plates

nsfo sucked f-76 was pretty good burning jp-5 you could burn but superheater temps woud be higher and it did burn cleaner but was expensive to burn in a boiler and we made ourown overloads on the coral sea drilled out some 11s and made 9s for full power runs and wartimeuse. Steaming an m-type with no abc"s was a real challenge but it made the watch go by fast.
