BJC Feb 1968
Greetings all. I entered San Diego boot camp the last week of Jan 1968. I moved into the BLJ they had not long retgurned from tge Hollywood trip where they recorded the record. Does anyone have a copy of that? I would so love to hear it again. My copy went away many years ago. Searched YouTube but no luck. Those were special times. Not only out voices but our style of marching with the "lean back" turns. I became the educational PO and will never forget my office with the hidden floor…

Was apart of BJC Jan. 68 to Mar. 68. Was lucky enough to go to Hollywood to make our recording (record) there. I still have the record, but can't locate my pictures of the choir or my grad section. I know I have them "safely" stored in a location easy to find, if I could find that location!? I went on to MM school, then Nuclear schools, became a "frigin'" Nuc, then a submariner MM1SS, then a mustang officer, probably because I could walk and chew gum at the same time...sometimes. l retired as a Commander after 26 years. The BJC will always be one of my memorable times of my Navy career.
Hey Guys, Check out my slick new genuine BJC Tat!
Happy Veterans Day to all my BJC brothers!
Louis E. Washington,
You are welcome. From BJC San Diego it was on to NATTC Glynco, GA for Air Controlman A School. From there to the USS Enterprise CVA(N)-65. While there I hooked up with a buddy from the BJC, William Kruger, who was a Photographer. Good times. Liberty with Bill, in Hong Kong, was a blast!
Steven Strehle - Thanks brother! Hard to believe I could have forgotten this. I appreciate your sharing it. I love your story about singing it at graduation.
Someone sent me a recording of the BJC singing, and I have since gotten a new PC and can't find that music. Does anyone have such a recording? I was a member Feb 67 to May 67.
Louis E. Washington asked a question a while back about the BJC verse to the Navy Hymn. Sorry, I have not checked this site in a while. I still sing it in the shower, on occasion. When we sang in front of the assembled parents, etc. at my graduation the RCPO tried to cut us off, but we sang the last verse anyway.
Fraternal Brother raise your song of pride and truth and friendship strong.
May God be with us as we sing the spirit of our Heavenly King.
Blue Jacket forever reign, and may God bless our glad refrain. Amen.
