I was in the Gulf aboard the USS Samuel Gompers in 84 (anchored off Oman), and then again in 91 during Desert Storm (Bahrain and UAE).

I WAS IN THE GULF ABOARD THE USS DIXON AS-37, 1992.

I was stationed on the LaSalle before and during the Iran Hostage Crisis. We visited almost all of the countries bordering the gulf. The ship was stationed out of Bahrain. We used to be a small elite group but since the wars it has become a sailor mecca.

I was there when one of the Helo Ships had a boiler explosion. It killed a few guysand they came outoard of us. I think it was the Iwo Jima. We feed their crew and or our crew at the same time.That was where I got my NAM. We hung out at a hotel that had a swimming pool on the top deck with a bar (of course). One our off time we made good use of the hotel. Had a bar down stairs.And wasclose to the Gold Suk.

I deployed to the Gulf onboard the USS Dubuque LPD-8 with a Marine Air Ground Task Force embarked. We also provided support to the MSO Ops. Anyone else?
