  • I was aboard the USS Lynde McCormick DDG-8. The lynde along with a FFG, provided the 15 min warning prior to firing the 5". We under the command of CDR Etnyre (then), recently retired 4 star from surfaces forces. Praying Mantis was the real deal and whereI was awarded my first Combat Action ribbon.   • On board USS Wm. H. Standley CG32 1987 between Stark & Vincennes in Persain Gulf shoot down. Vincennes was right, 'You Don't Get Starked' at that time in the gulf! 14 Earnest Will Escorts in & out of the Strait of Hormuze(spl). Nobody had heard of the 'Persain Gulf Conflict' til 1990 when Army & Air Force was in. It was a USN & USMC problem til then. Shipmate BT3 RK
  • Was onboard the USS Robison DDG-12 during the Vincennes shoot down. We relieved them on station in the gulf.
