  • David, Thanks for your response,I am new to this site and I don't see any form as well THANKS.
  • Kevin, I sent a message to the CPO Group right after I joined this Website, never got a response, so that is two of us waiting in line. Apparently there is, or was, a way to join the Group at one time, it has three members.
Also, a form is mentioned that needs to be filled out. I didn't see a "form", has anyone else?
  • Would anybody know how I can join the group "US Navy Chief Petty Officers" the site is OOC Thanks

Early retirements were offered toward the end of 1975. My constructive time put me in line for the early out, and projected my active duty time to 20 years and a couple of months.
I sent my entire career home ported, or on shore duty, in San Diego, except for "A" school in GLakes. My only family moves were in the San Diego area.
  • When I was aboard the USS WASHBURN (AKA 108) and homeported in San Diego in 1953 we had a French Canadian name Moises Whitehorse. He was a Chief with his tribe in Wyo. Anyhow every time we get a new Ensgin aboard of course they would put in on the mid watch, Whitehorse would come back from the beach he would go down to his locker and put on his Indian Chief head gear on and get his rubber tommyhawk and go up to quarterdeck and chase the new Ensgin around the ship,it was really a show except the next day when the old man had him called to his cabinet and he was told not to that again or he would not have any officers left.

One Huge Event

Greetings fellow Navy retirees! I served for twenty five years, and have told many sea stories. I like to categorize them just a little by putting them into Liberty wild tale type things, and Operations this is what happened on an exercise or evolution type thing. Do you have a really BIG EVENT that was very cool or maybe not so cool that you would like to tell the rest of us old salts?
