  • Same here Bob. In contact with a one or two guys from other duty stations. But none from boot camp.

  • It has been just over 50 years since I left boot camp, and in all those years I have yet to make contact with anyone from my company, 66-745. I've been to plenty of reunions over the years and have met many I served with from various other commands, but still waiting for that elusive NTC shipmate to show up. I did find one boot member over on the TogetherWeServed site, but he didn't reply to my inquiry.

  • Just curious. But it's been a little over 51 years since I graduated from Boot Camp. How many of you folks still have contact with any of your old shipmates ? I still have one or two.

  • WHERE DID THOSE DAYS GO?

  • Got it done on the photo album of the Viet Nam vets (Vietnam Veterans photo club).  I have worked hard to help a lot of us, but so many of us suffer from PTSD it is hard to live life.  God Bless

Only post your original photos and documents from the Vietnam war. Photos of artifacts, letters, magazines from this time are also acceptable. No pho…
  • Thanks James it would be wonderful.

I do want to tell all that the 2nd paragraph to the end is an exert from my friend Jim Davis who writes a weekly letter to inform veterans of the current pending legislation and DoD information for the benefits and services for us veterans. His dad was in Vietnam as was I. His web site is Veterans for Change.

I used his news of Graham Gentles to pass along to all my memberships to military site and forums.

Last I checked there was still 95,000 of us Vietnam vets still around and it never hurts to keep all informed hat we are.

Thanks again for your offer. Will look it up on acebook.

  • Thomas, If you do not object, I will post your comment on facebook at the Viet Nam veteran site.

Jim, how are things, haven't talked to you in a while..

  • I totally agree with you SK2 Collier.

Youur posting will get better and more exposure if you start a "blog" for it. When placed in the individual commands like RTC, it will only be seen by those who follow that command after it scrolls out of the main page.

To start a blog go to your profile under "My Page" click on "blogs" on the left and when that page opens up, click on the "ADD" button on top.

  • Every day I run across an item concerning a VET that needs to be passed on. I realize this has no bearing on NRTC, but we all are VETS and this item touched home.

Almost every day when I begin to read all the news alerts I get, I always dread coming across another article or DoD alert on the death of another Veteran.

This time, it was a Veteran from here in Pasadena, California!

Graham Gentles was working as a cashier at a Pasadena Target when he was subjected to the “walk of shame,” a disciplinary practice involving employees being paraded around the store in handcuffs, placed in a police car and taken into custody!

And although the reason this happened is still unclear, the police did find no reason to file charges and Graham was released, but he was also terminated from Target, and within a few days he took his own life.

You would think by now the civilian population would have heard, read or seen a new piece on PTSD, and Veterans taking their own lives as a solution to a problem they feel can't be fixed.

But you would also think a business, or store manager would use discretion in dealing with any problem within the confines of a business, but it seems the department stores take great pride in displaying their issues and problems publicly.

This in my opinion, should the person be innocent would open the door for a massive lawsuit and in this care Mrs. Gentles will be doing so and I truly hope she wins one hell of a massive settlement.

I must admit that now I think twice about shopping Target.
