Ya we had dixie cups and ball caps too in 1974
In 66 we did not get them. We had ball caps and dixie cups...
Although the movie "Onionhead" was about the Coast Guard....the scenes with Andy Griffth included the flat hat covers in them.
Ronald Lee Forman you mean the "Donald Duck" hats that said US Navy on them?
What year did you go to RTC in the late 50's????
I was in Company 594 October 1960 and a flat hat was part of our seabag.
I was wondering how many of you other guys receivd a "Flat Hat" in your initial boot camp issue of uniforms? I don't remember my unit number, but we were told that we were the last company that would be issued Flat Hats. I kept mine through all these years, as I never had the opportunity to wear it while serving. My father was was surprised they were still issuing them when I got home on boot leave.
Man! I did not even get one of those! Ggggggggggggggggggggg! hahaha
