  • I was there at balboa when the pow's arrived...saw it all
  • I see them in blue camos, but we had green fatiques..and a PRC 25 radio on the back with those damn batteries.. Blue in the jungle, Naw I don't think so, Blue in the desert, naw I don't think so.  The dungerees worked just fine on board.
  • Naw, the French wouldn't know enough to camouflage themselves! They would wear bright orange shirts that say "I surrender"!
  • Not only that! But, while you were in Balboa is when all the POW's came home in March! We had LtCmdr McCain and Captain Stockdale up on the top floor!
  • It was weird getting pnemonia in sunny southern california when you grew up in the blizzards of Montana ....I came close to a medical discharge....damn near died...They had several medical catastrophe that winter including spinal mendengitis,pnemonia...
  • Hey Timothy! I went into RTC in Sept 72 and was at Balboa in Corps school till April 73! We were crossing each others paths and didn't know it!
  • I arrived at RTC San Diego in late November 1972...On my2.5 day i got cold symptoms and went to Sick bay...they took xrays of my lungs to find both with pnemonia...They hauled me by ambulence and a 103 fever to Balboa Naval Hospital...What a experience that was...they treated and treated and finally got me back to boot camp to start all over on Easter sunday 1973 ..I started out in company 444 and ended up in 125..Had to be one of the longest recruits in Naval History...Went to Nas Memphis for AMS a school and on to Nas Corpus Christi....What a trip that was for a small town boy from Red Lodge Montana
  • Same bunch! Along with the other bunch of idiots that designed the new NWU! Sailors in BLUE CAMOS??? Good luck if you fall overboard! They'll never find you! Plus, just what does that blue camouflage hid you in or from???
  • JL, that would be the same idiots that thought it would be a good idea to close all the Hospital Corps schools and send all the Navy corpsman to an Army base in Texas for training!

RTC San Diego Company 788 1968

I would like to re-connect with any recruits from co. 788 from Nov. 12, 1968- Jan 30 1969 I still have my "ANCHOR" and all the names of my company mates.
